NEWS, Mauritius — The small island nation of Mauritius is worried about climate change.
So worried that they are using inbound tourism dollars to set up a sovereign wealth fund.

That sovereign wealth fund will be used to buy a country, or land, for its people in the event of climate change causing tides to overrun the collection of islands.
Canary in the Mine.
Mauritius lies off the coast of Madagascar, and has a high degree of relative wealth as tourist destination. And yet they are worried.
Mauritius as an island is a canary in the mine, like frog species are in the broader environment.
Nearly unprecedented, this action shows how seriously Pacific & Indian Ocean island nations are taking the climate change trend.
A number of other trends including the growth of sovereign wealth funds and interventionist capitalism reinforce the growth of such moves.
Do you think your country is adequately prepared for climate change? Is coastal property declining in value where you are? More seriously, is your home perceived as under threat, or already noticed climate effects?
